It’s been brought to our attention that several fansite galleries were hacked recently. On our network recently vanessa-hudgens.org/photos was hacked, which will need to be restored from an earlier backup, as well as hilaryimages.com Please make sure you have a backup of your files and databases (especially databases right now) – no one knows what can happen in a hack and though we try to assist you with this, ultimately you are responsible for your own files. This hack targets specifically the databases of Coppermine galleries. The files are left untouched. The albums in the galleries are deleted, and the theme is changed. It appears like this after the hack: http://img130.imageshack.us/i/picture36u.png/ As you can see all albums have been deleted, the theme is changed and the gallery has been defaced. Even if you cannot backup your site files because it is too big, at the least make a backup of your database to protect yourself from this recent hack. It is a good idea to do this every week. Please make a backup of your databases immediately right now. We are running an immediate backup of all databases on the accounts on our servers but you are responsible for keeping your own databases for your own sites. There is a new layout for Valentine’s Day (tomorrow, February 14th). The layout was made by Deea&Gabrielle from http://demilovatodaily.com with some coding from the previous owner of oh-hilary.com Thanks again to shawncorson.com for creating our previous layout, we will be creating an archive for past layouts in the future so you can see the past layouts we’ve had over the years. The current layout is not quite done with the coding yet but I have to go off the computer now, so I’ll do the rest over the weekend. This includes a slideshow and rollover buttons which I still need to code in. Leave a comment on what you think so far and any suggestions on what to add/change on the layout (please be honest). Also please let us know if you find any errors in coding, etc. [Edit: I'll do the slideshow, buttons later because I need to get an update layout image from the designer. Check back soon.]

There was an issue this weekend beginning the evening of January 16th through part of the next day. There was a brute force attempt on the server among other things, and as a result the server had some load issues during the day. This is resolved now and the SSH port number has been changed to prevent this. I was on a plane and took care of the issue as soon as I found out about the problem. This is very rare and can normally be fixed immediately if discovered, but due to some confusion as to who to address the situation to, it took longer to fix than it should have. We have addressed this situation now to prevent this from happening again. We apologize for any convenience, everything is back to normal now. The note from an admin: “Now that the server is stable once again, I’m going to complete the mysql table repairs and optimizations I mentioned. Since time is not of the essence, I’m going to leave nginx up for this. Secondly, I caught an IP trying to bruteforce ssh on your server. To remedy this, I’ve changed the port for ssh to xxx. This greatly reduces the chance that ssh bruteforce attempts will even occur, let alone succeed. Unfortunately, we are unable to monitor services unless they are on their default ports. For ssh, this isn’t very important, since ssh usually only reports down if there’s a bruteforce attempt going on. This is reversible, but likely the best solution.
