To become a hostee, read the rules and email the application below to fanfusion@gmail.com. (Note: Do not submit your application as a comment to this post because we will not see it). If you are accepted you will get a response within 24 hours. Do not submit any other hosting applications within 24 hours before or 24 hours after you apply to us. Please do not apply here if you are not serious about being hosted if you are accepted. If you are not accepted, feel free to make changes to your site and have it re-evaluated after a few weeks. No other emails sent to this email will be read so please do not send spam.
RULES
1. Website Skills. You need to have at least intermediate website skills, including graphics (e.g., Photoshop), coding (e.g., HTML, CSS, PHP), and other general skills (e.g., FTP). We provide full support for hosting issues, but there are some basic website skills that you need to have or you may find it very difficult to use your hosting account. We can provide guidance where needed but you should be willing to read through tutorials to learn something new.
2. Quality. You must keep your website high quality and presentable at all times. Please make sure there are no broke links on your site. Your content should be original – please do not take content from other sites, and always give credit where appropriate.
3. Google Ranking.. You must maintain a high position on google, first or second page. You must keep a keywords and description meta tags at all times. We are taking mostly established sites, and usually do not take new sites unless you have had a lot of experience with fansites before.
4. Host Support. You must display our ad code or link according to your arrangement at all times on all pages of the site. Please make sure the ad is placed in the appropriate position, as specified on the ads page. Ads need to be visible without any scrolling and be close to a vertically centered position. The ads should be added before you make your site live, but if this is not possible, we will give you a max of 24 hours after your site becomes live on our servers, or your site will be set to BRB (be right back) mode. If you have any of your own ad codes, it must be explicitly approved. Please do not try to put fewer or smaller to see if we will notice, ad codes are monitored regularly, and if we find that you have modified an ad code without permission your hosting services will be terminated.
5. Language. We current host sites in any languages, although sites in exclusively English are preferred. If your site is not in exclusively English, an English version is preferred. Click here to find out more about host to get an international site hosted.
6. Presentation. Make sure your site is browseable at all times. Please do not put your website on maintenance mode or hiatus. If you go on vacation, leave the site browseable. Please leave galleries/forums viewable without registration. Your site must work for all browsers and all resolutions, do not create sites best viewed by a certain browser setting. Do not create layouts that take up a very small portion of the browser.
7. Contact Email Keep your CPanel email updated because we will send you important notices through this email and you need to be able to receive and respond to messages within 48 hours.
8. Setup Time If you are accepted, please fully set up your site within 7 days (if you have an existing site), or 10 days (if your site is new) – coming soon pages and temporary layouts are not acceptable. The correct ad and link codes must be placed within 24 hours of making your site live.
9. Hosting guidelines. As a hostee, you are expected to follow certain hosting guidelines at all times including media file guidelines. Careless violations will result in your hosting services being terminated. Hosting guidelines will be enforced, and a one time violation of hosting guidelines can have severe consequences including the termination of your hosting services. Please understand the importance of following hosting guidelines at all times before you apply.
- You agree to follow all media file hosting guidelines. If you direct link any media files above 30 MB and your site is not on a media server, your hosting services will be terminated.
- No adult or mature content is allowed.
- Separate domains for subsites (gallery, media, etc.) unless your site receives a lot of traffic (a few thousand visitors/day)
- Individual file uploads are not allowed, you must use batch uploading
- Please use GD Library at all times whenever possible, even if ImageMagick is enabled.
- Although you can create an unlimited number of subdomains, we discourage subdomains in general, and suburls are strongly preferred over subdomains for subsites (e.g., icons, gallery, affiliates), except for videos.
- Participation in certain link exchanges must be approved, and business affiliated websites are not allowed unless approved. Please do not link to company-hosted websites displaying excessive ads – you may link to a website affiliated with a company if the ads are not excessive.
- Please use relative and not absolute filepaths whereever possible.
- We only host original sites that create their own content. We will not host sites that find their content on forums or copy its content from other sites. Do not copy artwork or anything else from other sites and always give appropriate credit where its due. If you find any violations of this rule, please alert our staff immediately.
10. Process for Closing an Account If you need to leave our hosting or close down your account for any reason, please give us notice before you begin the process. It will not affect your chances of being hosted here in the future if you let us know. If you do not provide us with proper notice, you will not be allowed to host with us in the future.
- Violation of any of the above is immediate grounds for suspension/deletion of your site without warning.
- If you have an individual hosting arrangement, these rules may not apply to you.
- In general the hostees here are pretty good about keeping to the rules. If you have a high quality fansite hosted here and you keep up all the host support ad codes and links and so on, there will be no problems at all.
*NEW. There are now two ways you can apply. The first is through the regular application process, the second is through a vouching process. In the first application method, we decide the hostees based on website examples, experience, and your overall application. If you do not have any examples to show but you believe you should qualify for hosting, another way you can get accepted is to find a current hostee to vouch for you. You can apply through both methods if you like but you only need to be accepted through one of the methods to receive hosting.
