It has been over a year since we last cleaned out our list of domain names. Throughout the past year, we’ve purchased many domain names and had many domains donated to us by webmasters, but never had the chance to formally create a list. August 22, 2010. It has been over a year since we last cleaned out our list of domain names. We currently have over 1500 hosted accounts. Throughout the past year, we’ve purchased a lot of new domain names but never had a chance to formally create a list, or to sort through any abandoned domain names. We’ve also received many “donations” from webmasters who had domain names they no longer used and pushed them to us for free. Finally, we have gone through our list of domains and posted a list of 550+ domain names for adoption. If you see a domain name that should not be here, please contact us.

Rules for adopting domains:

You must have proof of a high quality website example of 300 visitors/day to apply for a domain (e.g., via a tracker link), OR be able to order a layout from an approved designer (there is a list on the forum at www.fanfusion.org/forum in the design center).
Please keep in mind that for some domains we will receive multiple applications, and can only choose one person to take over. While a certain number of visitors is required to apply, it is not a guarantee of acceptance. E.g., having 300 visitors/day does not guarantee that you will be accepted for a site.
You must be able to update the site on a regular basis in the long run. E.g., 2-4 times a week. If you have other commitments which will prevent you from updating your site on a regular basis, please do not apply. If an emergency comes up that makes you unable to maintain a site after you adopt it, that is acceptable, but please do not apply for a domain name if you will just abandon it right after, or will only set up a layout but not continue to update it.
If you do not hear back within 24-48 hours, you can assume that the application was not accepted.
Please do not submit the same application more than once. If you apply for a site once and are not accepted and nothing has significantly changed on your site, it will not be accepted if you resubmit it.
You must fully open the site within 2 weeks. If you are ordering from a designer you must show proof that you have submitted your order. If you have adopted a site recently, it will be temporarily reserved for you but you must open the site first before it is removed from the adoption list.
Some domains will have special requirements, or are available only to hostees who have been hosted with us for a long time. If you are accepted for a domain with special requirements, we will inform you of this.
You can apply for only one domain name at a time. Please make sure of your choice before you apply because it probably cannot be changed later if you are accepted.
Please do not put sites on hiatus. They must remain browseable at all times. If you are changing layouts please do not take your site offline.

To apply to adopt a domain name, simply fill out the usual hosting application here for the domain name that you wish to adopt and send it to us at fanfusion@gmail.com. Please make sure that you have filled out all fields, including examples of sites/graphics you’ve created as this is the most important part of the application.
