FanFusion is doing a contest for new Coppermine, WordPress, and PHPMotion themes for our themes directory at www.fanfusion.org/themes We thought that this would be good way to get some creative themes for hostees to use, so we have decided to run this contest. We are currently taking submissions until April 23rd, after which voting will begin on the forums.

Update – voting is now closed. We have counted the votes and the results are posted below.  For the voting, for the WordPress themes, your first three favorite choices were counted as 2 points, and the fourth and fifth favorite were counted as 1 point.  For coppermine themes, the first choice was counted as two points, and the second choice 1 point.

If your entry is listed as a winner, you have been contacted and will have a week to code the layout and make sure that it meets all the requirements of a submitted theme, otherwise the theme will not be accepted and your spot go to the next person.

Thanks to everyone for entering! 9 WordPress themes and 2 Coppermine themes were submitted, unfortunately no PHPMotion themes were submitted. Below were the submitted entries. Update (4/18): We have received some good entries so far and didn’t want anyone to be discouraged from entering. Please do not be discouraged by other applications that are already in. To encourage everyone to enter – you will now be competing against yourself only! If you submit a HQ design, we may consider making you an auto winner if it is a very HQ design. That way there is no need to compete with others, and it may discourage some good designs from being entered if they think that they will not win against your design. If we decide to use it (and you will not be competing against anyone – we will consider each submission separately), you will receive a gift card (as long as the layout is designed and coded to meet the requirements). So, regardless of how many other designs are submitted, everyone will have a chance to win :) You are competing against yourself now, not anyone else.

How to enter:

To submit an entry, please send an email to fanfusion[at]gmail.com with the subject “Theme Design Contest”, and including the following information:

1. What type of design are you submitting (Coppermine/Wordpress/PHPMotion)?

2. Please send us a submission of your design. This can be a fully coded layout or a coded preview. You can upload this to your own website, or send us a screenshot. Please keep in mind that you must have the ability to code the layout fully, or the design will not quality. It is fine if you wish to code the full layout only after you are chosen as a winner – in that case, please send us a high quality preview of the layout.

3. Please confirm that you have read the rules sand guidelines and agree to them.

4. Please confirm that your layout is original, that you are the copyright owner and give permission and unlimited rights for FanFusion.Org to use your layout.

5. How did you hear about this contest? Please indicate the exact source. If a friend told you, please write the name of a friend, and their website URL if they have one.

Design guidelines:

1. Keep in mind that it should be a general theme that will allow people to customize it for their own celebrity. It should include customizable/editable regions, and be simple, uncomplicated to use.
2. WordPress themes should use a sidebar file rather than widgets since beginners usually do not know what widgets are.
3. Please leave room for a 300×250 ad code and 728×90 above the fold (within the first 600 pixels of the page). If the layout will have a sidebar, make sure it is at least 300 pixels wide so that it can fit a 300×250 ad code at the top of the sidebar.
4. If you are chosen as a winner, you will be required to make sure the design meets the ad and link requirements. You will need to include a link to fanfusion.org, the privacy policy, and DMCA/Disclaimer. Feel free to do this in advance if you wish to submit a fully coded layout.
5. You will also need to include a psd file for editable regions that allows users to customize the graphic for their own celebrity.
6. Be creative and have fun :)

Contest Rules and Regulations:

• Submissions begin today (April 9th) and ends 11:59 PM EST on April 23rd. I.e., the contest runs for 2 weeks.
• Voting begins on April 24rd (12:00 AM EST) and ends on April 30th (11:59 PM EST). Voting will be done on the forum at www.fanfusion.org/forum. We will create a thread for voting, where users can post a response to vote for the design in each category. At the end of the voting date, we will total the number of votes for each design, which will determine the winner.
• If you are a winner, you will be contacted after the voting closes to code the layout. You will have 1 week to send us the completed design, which may include the full coding of it if you only sent a coded preview earlier and the coding was not fully completed yet. If you do not respond or do not work cooperatively to try to meet the requirements, we will move on to the next winner.
• Winners will be announced by the end of May (at the latest, but possibly sooner).
• The layout must be original and you must be the copyright owner of the layout. Graphics and coding must be done by you, and not taken from another design.
• Your credit will remain on the layout. You will be credited by name and email (or domain, but there are restrictions regarding linkage to a domain including that the site must be hosted with us – please contact us if you have concerned regarding this). Please write: “Designed by (your name)/(your site or email) for FanFusion.org Themes Directory” in the footer and include the appropriate links. Unless we host and own the domain for your design site, please do not put your URL on the graphic itself.
• If you are chosen as a winner (any of the top 3 places in each of the 3 categories), you agree to give unlimited rights to FanFusion Network to use the design.
• You can submit entries to as many categories as you want. However, you may only receive one first place prize to give others a chance as well.

Prizes:

1. Prizes will be given to the top 3 places in each category (Coppermine, WordPress, and PHPMotion).
2. The first place winner in each category will receive a $25 itunes gift card. I.e., a total of 3 $25 gift cards will be given out.
3. The top three winners in each category will have their sites featured in a “Featured Sites” section on the homepage at www.fanfusion.org. They will also be announced in a hostee email to all the hostees on our entire network, as well as on the forum, Twitter, and main site.
